Breabach @ Chudleigh Hall

15 March 2018 7:00PM Chudleigh Hall, 54 Sorrell Street Chudleigh, TAS, Australia.
Breabach began 2017 in exciting fashion as receivers of the Scots Trad Music Awards Folk Band of the Year for the second time and Album of the Year for their fifth studio album Astar. A special Celtic Connections show to celebrate the album was held in February in Glasgow City Halls and was received with a sell out crowd and 5 star review in the Scotsman. 2018 kicks off with an Australian tour taking in most of the East Coast.

Multi-award-winning contemporary traditional Scottish powerhouse Breabach have performed at Woodford Folk Festival, Sydney Opera House and WOMADelaide, and have since gone on to develop a great audience in Australia. Woodfordia is delighted to help put them on the road for a tour between the wonderful Port Fairy and National Folk Festivals in March and hope you'll get along to see them. Songs in Gaelic, two pipers, guitar, stepdancing, fiddle and double bass are all featured in their live shows and on their new album 'Astar'. Astar (tr. journey/distance) is a multicultural celebration, embracing the music of four nations in partnership with Scotland. Breabach invited friends from Norway, Quebec, Australia - including Yirrmal and Mark Atkins - and New Zealand to be part of this recording and the result has had rave reviews.

"Astar sees Breabach in an electrifying new phase - one that illustrates the band's strength and interest in experimentation. Exhilarating, energetic and accomplished Astar is a rare, beautiful treat." Songlines (UK)
